[The wedding had been lovely.

Not that she wouldn't expect it to be, considering how long it had been coming. Allison and Lydia's planning was perfect and she and Scott couldn't be happier, which is really the important thing. Add to the fact that Tyler had been an awesome date stand in, and the evening had gone a lot more smoothly than she expected.

(It still hurt, even though she'd been prepared. It still stung a little more sharply than she thought it would, seeing him with another girl, but for the most part she was keeping it together. She's always been good at that, burying her emotions where no one else could see them.

The funny thing is, he's always the one who managed to see through them.)

But Tyler's spending some time talking to Nadia and her mom, and she needs a little air, so she makes her way out to the patio near the dance floor, hanging out with her drink. Allison and Scott are dancing together like the rest of the world had fallen away and it was just the two of them there, just like always. They always were perfect together, always so sure of what they wanted, and she envied them for that.

Malia and Isaac too.

And now she's standing, alone, on the side of a dance floor at a wedding where she should be happier, but she's not. There's still that nagging feeling of something being missing. She just wishes she wasn't so sure of what it was.]

[he nods, then pulls her into a tight hug to give her a bit of strength]

I'll tell her. Tell Scott it was nice meeting him from me, and hopefully I'll see him again soon.

[and he will go off to find Talia, letting her know. Not that Talia would be surprised at all, but it was the polite thing to do.]

[And she will wander off to collide with Scott, Stiles and her cousin as they're coming back into the main room. She stops short for a second but keeps it together, trying to keep most of her attention on Scott.]

Tyler and I are going to go. We have an early flight tomorrow and it's getting late.

[fadingspark]

[Stiles licks his lips, standing behind Scott who just nods, not knowing why but not going to stop her if she's determined to go. He'll lean in to give her a hug]

Have a safe flight back. I'll see you when you're home for break next time.

[and Scott will look back at Stiles, moving to the side as the other man rubs the back of his neck]

Cora, I just... [he's sorry for getting angry at her. For hurting her like that] it was nice seeing you again. Tyler looks like a good guy.

[She nods against his shoulder into the hug, pulling back with a small smile all the same. When Stiles speaks, she's surprised, but she appreciates it all the same.

She probably should correct him about Tyler, but right now she doesn't really see the point.]

Suzanna too. She seems ... great.

[And, before she can stop herself, she's taking the two steps to him and sliding her arms around his shoulders one last time, before Cora becomes an ex-girlfriend permanently, before she's reduced to an "old friend of your dad's" to his kids, before all of it is completely gone. In the hug is an apology in and of itself, even if she doesn't manage to say it.]

It was good seeing you too.

[he's a bit shocked at the hug, but for a moment he just takes it and hugs her back. It's tight, feeling her goodbye in it and he knows he's making the right choice as well in moving on, since to him he believes Cora has, and there's nothing left of them in her mind.

When he pulls back, he gives her a small, sad smile.]

Take care of yourself, okay?

[because it was better than saying goodbye.]

[It is goodbye, because they both need it. And she's more than willing to let him move on if he means he does what he knows he needs to do. Trying to stop him is stupid and selfish and whatever she may or may not think about Suzanna, there's a kid involved.

She doesn't have the right to take him away from that when she gave him away in the first place.

She nods a bit, returning the smile as she does.]

You too.

[And with that, she steps back to go find Tyler.]

[and he's going to watch her go, then give his apologies to Allison for keeping Scott occupied before going to Suzanna and taking her hand.]

Sorry about that. Needed to bother Scott for advice on something. Having fun?


[meanwhile, Tyler is waiting, and puts his arm around Cora's shoulder and just quietly walks her back to the car, helping her escape from the whole mess and not saying anything to risk upsetting her again]

[Suzanna watches Cora leave and is feeling incredibly pleased with herself as a result. She turns back to Stiles with a bright smile and nods.]

I'm having a blast. Your friends are really great.

[Cora is just going to keep it together until she reaches the safety of her own room to grieve what she's losing, but she appreciates Tyler's support all the same. But it really was about time she let it go.]

[Stiles smiles back, taking her hand and leading her over to a quiet corner, knowing that Scott is whispering to Allison what is about to happen, and Malia probably to Isaac as well. he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out the bag his Dad had given him earlier]

I was going to make a bigger spectacle about it, but it just feels right to ask now. [now that he knows Cora is no longer achievable. And he had seen the pregnancy test so he knew she was pregnant. And he slowly got down on one knee, holding the ring up to her.]

Suzanna Grayson, will you do me the honor of being my wife?

[impetere]

[Oh, Malia's telling Isaac. But it may be slightly ranty, and Isaac is going to have to do his best to calm her down.

But at least it's quietly ranty.

Suzanna makes the appropriate surprised/pleased face, smiles widely at the ring, and nods eagerly her agreement. She knew it was coming, but she still is great at putting on a performance if nothing else.]

Yes, of course, yes!

[seeing her excited makes his face light up and he's putting the ring on her finger, and then standing to kiss her deeply while Scott takes a moment to grab the mic from the DJ]

For those of you who may not notice the make out session going on in the corner, I'd like to point out that my brother just got engaged to his beautiful girlfriend, Suzanna. Let's raise a toast up to them!

[Stiles laughs as the room explodes with applause and cheers, shaking his head at Scott]

Thanks, Scottie.

[wolf grin] Just wait until I get to make MY best man speech.

Mine wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been and you know it.

[Malia is just making that face in the corner again, the pressed expression that's almost like a smile but it's not. It's definitely a grimace. But she's not going to spoil the mood - at least not until Lydia makes her way over and pointedly takes the seat next to her.]

You seem as happy about this as I am.

[Malia shakes her head. Stiles might not be able to hear them, but she's not going to go there right now. She just leans into Isaac's shoulder a bit.]

I just don't like her. But ... me liking her isn't really important.

[ONLY IT SHOULD BE. But she won't bring that up right now.]

It's Stiles's choice.

[Isaac, who's been quiet the entire time, just wraps his arms around Malia]

You didn't like Ms. Blake either, Malia. You have good instincts. You should tell him. Or Scott.

[meanwhile, Stiles is just going to accept the hugs and congrats from people, including the Hales even if Derek is a bit more formal in it, because he has a feeling Cora isn't happy about this at all. Peter can hear the baby heartbeat and he whispers in Stiles' ear that when he starts a family, he's always welcome to call for advice.]

[Nope, she's not. Which is why she's not here. She doesn't need to see it.

Malia turns a bit, pressing her cheek against his shoulder and sighs.]

Yeah. Maybe I'll talk to Scott later.

[Because she knows that Stiles knows she's a huge Stiles/Cora shipper and she doesn't want that thrown back in her face. Lydia, however, just looks confused.]

Ms. Blake our English teacher who disappeared before the end of junior year?

[Malia glances back to her. She's still learning the ways of the supernatural.]

Evil druid. Tried to kill us all.

[There's a beat.]

Well. That answers that.

Right now, I think he just needs up to be happy for him. Not like he's cutting us all off. We'll just take care of him and watch out for him.

[because that was what friends did.]

[She nods in agreement.]

He wants us to come up and see the house by the way. We should make plans for that.

We can do that. Mountain View's not that far from the apartment.

[She nods a bit, exhaling slowly, before her eyes turn a little sad.]

This is going to kill her. I think that's why she left, she already knew.

Cora made her choice, Malia. No matter how much we all disagree with her on it, it was her choice to make. Maybe she'll start moving on now.

[wildkingdom]

Maybe.

[But she won't. Just like Malia probably wouldn't if she ever lost Isaac. It will always be that thing that holds her back.

Malia was surprised at how close she and Tyler seemed, but she knows there's nothing really there. She just sighs and closes her eyes.]

I need to stop thinking about this.

[fadingspark]

Then let's go dance. I'll ask the DJ to play our song. [he gives her a smile, pulling her to her feet, then looks at Lydia] Care to join us? I think i can handle both of you.

[Lydia shakes her head.]

I think I need another drink. I'll catch up with you two later.

[Malia nods as she turns to head to the bar, before glancing back to Isaac with a grin.]
